I just reread this again. I’m not sure if I had just skimmed it in the past, or if something about it changed, in one of those crazy ways that words can grow and evolve as time passes us by. Either way, I thought I’d share it again. Elijah is one of my favorite writers on Tumblr and he wrote this piece after listening to my song “On The Eve Of The Death Of A Beautiful Girl”. If you enjoy reading, his stuff is definitely worth your time.

Best Mediocre Review So Far

The reviews of the new album have been coming in and you know how that is. If you don’t know how that is, just imagine that you do and nod your head smugly. Then, I get an unsolicited review that blew me away. It is so accurate that I feel like he was somehow in my head as I wrote the album. Creepy.

Mediocrity Is An Adequate Lover review :

When recording this album Brion Riborn clearly wrote some songs. These songs consist of guitar, bass, drums, and other instruments. It seems, according to the cd case, that Mr. Riborn played most of these instruments with the exception of a few musicians mentioned that played certain instruments on certain songs. Most of these songs have a lot of lyrics proving that Riborn is a better lyricist then he is a master woodworker, although I think with some time and practice he could be just as good at wood craftsmanship and be making tables just as sturdy as the composition of his songs. These songs have light moments and dark moments. Some of the songs include: “Foursquare”, “Emergency Exit Routes”, “The Times That We Forget”, and “Futility”. These songs are joined by others to create an entire album. Mediocrity Is An Adequate Lover is the latest album by Brion Riborn and is available on iTunes.
